Turkish stock exchange ends Tuesday down

Benchmark BIST 100 index loses 112.01 points in closing session

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday with 14,227.29 points, down 0.78% from the previous close.

After starting the day at 14,314.06, the BIST 100 index declined 112.01 points from the close on Monday.

The lowest for the index during the day was 14,227.29, while the daily high was 14,409.27.

A total of 64 indexes lost value, while 35 closed in the green.

The transaction volume hit 198.7 billion Turkish liras ($4.54 billion), while the overall value of the index was 14.11 trillion liras ($323.3 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 43.7275 as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 51.6950, and the GBP/TRY traded at 59.1550.

The price of gold was $4,870.05 per ounce, while Brent crude was $66.85.
