Turkish stock exchange ends Tuesday in the red

Benchmark BIST 100 index loses 70.33 points at closing session

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 13,106.99 points, down 0.53% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, after starting the day at 13,225.04, lost 70.33 points from the close on Monday.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 13,053.90, while the daily high was 13,262.95.

A total of 64 indexes lost in value, while 35 closed the day with gains.

The total transaction volume reached 195.1 billion Turkish liras ($4.49 billion), while the overall value of the index was 12.97 trillion liras ($299.5 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 43.4045 as of 6.30 pm local time (1530GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 51.9630, and the GBP/TRY traded at 59.8765.

The price of gold was $5,070.70 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $65.3.
