Turkish stock exchange ends Tuesday on low note

Benchmark BIST 100 index down 136.33 points at closing session

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 11,331.75 points, down 1.19% from the previous close.

After starting the day at 11,363.25, the BIST 100 index lost 136.33 points from the close on Monday.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 11,293.48, while the daily high was 11,432.77.

A total of 82 indexes lost value, while 18 closed the day with gains.

The total transaction volume reached 154.2 billion Turkish liras ($3.72 billion), while the overall value of the index was 10.49 trillion liras ($254.1 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 41.4090 as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 48.8800, and the GBP/TRY traded at 56.0255.

The price of gold was $3,778.90 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $67.40.
