Turkish stock exchange ends Tuesday up 2.99%

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended Tuesday at 4,984.11 points, up 2.99% from the previous close.

After starting the day at 4,842.42 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index earned 144.65 points compared to the previous close of 4,839.46.

The index's lowest value during the day was 4,830.55, while its daily high was 4,988.55.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 4.13 trillion Turkish liras ($215.5 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 51 billion Turkish liras ($2.66 billion).

During the day, 92 stocks on the index rose and eight fell compared to the previous close.

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,037.05, while Brent crude oil sold for around $84.4 per barrel as of 6.21 p.m. local time (1521GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 19.2330, and the euro/lira exchange rate at 21.0790, while the British pound was at 24.0370 Turkish liras.
