Turkish stock exchange ends Wednesday with gains

Benchmark BIST 100 index earns 26.80 points at Wednesday's closing session

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Wednesday at 9,686.11 points, up 0.28% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, starting the day at 9,658.93, gained 26.80 points from the close on Tuesday.

The lowest point for the index was 9,630.53, while the daily high was 9,733.62.

During the day, 41 indexes gained in value while 54 closed with losses.

The daily transaction volume reached 90.1 billion Turkish liras ($2.3 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.78 trillion liras ($224.3 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 39.1410 as of 6.30 pm local time (1530GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 45.0060, and the British pound traded at 53.0571

The price of an ounce of gold was $3,339.20, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $67.85.
