Turkish stock exchange ends week with gains

Benchmark BIST 100 index earns 11.60 points at Thursday's early closing session

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed the last trading day of the week at 9,486.56 points, rising 0.12% or 11.60 points from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed early on Thursday due to Eid al-Adha. It will also stay closed on Friday and Monday.

The BIST 100 index started the day at 9,446.75, falling by 28.20 points from the close on Wednesday.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 9,421.70, while the daily high was 9,495.74.

During the day, 47 indexes gained in value, while 49 closed the day with losses.

The total transaction volume reached 28 billion Turkish liras ($712 million), while the overall value of the index was 8.59 trillion liras ($220.15 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 39.3450 as of 01.05 pm local time (1005GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 44.9380, and the GBP/TRY traded at 53.3870.

The price of gold was $3,390.50 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $64.90.
