Turkish stock exchange ends week with losses

Benchmark BIST 100 index loses 78.78 points at Friday's closing session

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Friday at 9,317.24 points, down 0.84% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, starting the day at 9,426.26, fell by 78.78 points from the close on Thursday.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 9,288.98, while the daily high was 9,433.80.

During the day, 70 indexes lost in value while 25 closed with gains.

The total transaction volume reached 79.8 billion Turkish liras ($2.09 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.47 trillion liras ($222.6 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 38.1705 as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 43.6175, and the GBP/TRY traded at 50.4395.

The price of gold was $3,327.10 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $66.95.
