Turkish stock exchange exceeds 12,000 threshold for first time, surging 2.75% on Tuesday
Benchmark BIST 100 index gains 321.78 points to finish at new all-time high

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index exceeded the 12,000 level for the first time on Tuesday, climbing 2.75% from its previous close.
Starting Tuesday at 11,741.47 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index finished the day at a new record high of 12,023.78 points, earning 321.78 points from Monday's close.
The index's lowest value during the day was 11,732.40, while its daily high 12,032.36.
During the day, 78 stocks on the index rose and 17 fell compared to the previous close.
The total market value of BIST 100 was around 11.89 trillion Turkish liras ($276.8 billion), with a daily trading volume of 175.4 billion Turkish liras ($4.07 billion).
The price of an ounce of gold was $4,477.90, while Brent crude oil sold for around $61.35 per barrel as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 43.0430, the euro/Turkish lira exchange rate 50.3715, and the British pound traded for 58.1815 Turkish liras.
