Turkish stock exchange flat at close

Benchmark BIST 100 index earns only 2.6 points at Tuesday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 8,474.30 points, up slightly by 0.03% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, which started the day at 8,512.55 points, gained 2.6 points from Monday's close.

The lowest value of the index of the day was 8,438.88, while its daily high was 8,516.63.

Some 45 indices increased in value, while 43 declined as of the end of the day.

The total transaction volume reached 102 billion Turkish liras ($3.34 billion), while the overall value of the index was 7.1 trillion liras ($237.5 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was at 30.3535 as of 19.05 hours (1605GMT), while the EUR/TRY rate was at 32.9340 and the GBP/TRY traded at 38.4485.

One ounce of gold was at $2,051.45, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $82.20.
