Turkish stock exchange flat at close

Benchmark BIST 100 index up by around 2.1 points at midweek's close

ISTANBUL (AA) — The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Thursday at 10,481.30 points, up slightly 0.02% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index started the day at 10,501.15 points, earning 2.14 points from Wednesday's close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 10,413.77, while its daily high was 10,550.14.

Some 38 indices increased in value by the end of the day, while 60 declined.

The total transaction volume reached 86 billion Turkish liras ($2.67 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.97 trillion liras ($278.6 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 32.2090 as of 18.45 p.m. local time (1545GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 34.9295, and the GBP/TRY traded at 41.0599.

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,344.35, while a barrel price of Brent oil was around $82.30.
