Turkish stock exchange flat at close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed the midweek at 9,757.16 points, up slightly by 0.09% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index started Wednesday at 9,757.77 points, increasing 8.41 points from Tuesday's close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 9,735.38, while its daily high was 9,836.58.

While 61 indices dropped during the day, 38 indices gained value.

The total transaction volume reached 66 billion Turkish liras ($1.94 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.2 trillion liras ($241.7 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 34.0545 as of 6.25 p.m. local time (1525GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 37.8780, and the GBP/TRY traded at 44.09410.

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,506.70, while a barrel price of Brent oil was around $77.90.
