Turkish stock exchange in red at midweek close

Benchmark BIST 100 index loses 86.65 points at Wednesday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Wednesday at 11,036.82 points, down 0.78% from the previous close.

After starting the day at 11,118.47, the BIST 100 index fell 86.65 points from its close on Tuesday.

The lowest for the index was 11,017.82, while the daily high was 11,201.69.

A total of 65 indexes lost in value during the day, while 33 closed in the green.

The daily transaction volume reached 186.4 billion Turkish liras ($4.39 billion), while the overall value of the index was 10.43 trillion liras ($246.3 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 42.4490 as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 49.5360, and the British pound traded at 56.5715.

Gold was $4,222.60 per ounce, while Brent crude oil was at $62.90.
