Turkish stock exchange opens Friday on high note

Benchmark index gains 9.88 points in opening session

ANKARA (AA) – Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Friday at 4,799.51 points, up by 0.21%, or 9.88 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Thursday at 4,789.63 points, rising by 0.13%, with a daily trading volume of 47 billion Turkish liras ($2.44 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 19.4550 as of 09.55 a.m. local time (0655GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 21.4671, while a British pound traded for 24.2890 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $78.66 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,995.80.
