Turkish stock exchange soars 2.16% at close

Benchmark BIST 100 index earns over 176 points

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Friday at 8,346.28 points, soaring by 2.16% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, which started the day at 8,191.37 points, gained 176.39 points from Thursday's close.

The lowest value of the index of the day was 8,180.25, while its daily high was 8,347.58.

Some 93 indices increased in value, while six declined as of the end of the day.

The total transaction volume reached 110 billion Turkish liras ($3.63 billion), while the overall value of the index was 7.1 trillion liras ($234.57 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was at 30.3190 as of 18.10 hours (1510GMT), while the EUR/TRY rate was at 32.9720 and the GBP/TRY traded at 38.6220.

One ounce of gold was at $2,016.60, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $82.35.
