Turkish stock exchange up 1.45% on Wednesday

Benchmark BIST 100 index earns around over 140 points

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed the midweek at 10,024.31 points, up by 1.45% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index started Wednesday at 9,960.50 points, earning 143.08 points from Tuesday's close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 9,902.19, while its daily high was 10,076.40.

While 75 indices dropped during the day, 22 indices gained value.

The total transaction volume reached 93 billion Turkish liras ($2.76 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.5 trillion liras ($253.5 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 33.4580 as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 36.6450, and the GBP/TRY traded at 42.6210.

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,396.90, while a barrel price of Brent oil was around $78.50.
