Turkish stock exchange up at closing

Benchmark BIST 100 index earns around 74.2 points

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Thursday at 10,098.50 points, up by 0.74% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index started the day at 10,016.80 points, earning 74.19 points from Wednesday's close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 10,006.12, while its daily high was 10,148.05.

While 69 indices dropped during the day, 29 indices gained value.

The total transaction volume reached 83 billion Turkish liras ($2.49 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.5 trillion liras ($254.7 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 33.4880 as of 6.35 p.m. local time (1535GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 36.6410, and the GBP/TRY traded at 42.6250.

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,416.02, while a barrel price of Brent oil was around $78.60.
