Turkish stock exchange up at midweek opening

The Turkish benchmark stock index opened Wednesday at 9,976.68 points, rising 0.57% or 56.07 points from the previous close.

On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 0.94% to 9,920.61 points with a daily transaction volume of 78 billion Turkish liras ($2.34 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira (USD/TRY) exchange rate was 33.5650 as of 9.55 a.m. (0655GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 36.9182, and the GBP/TRY rate was 43.0692.

The price of one ounce of gold was $2,506.10, and the barrel price of Brent oil was around $81.16.
