Turkish stock exchange up at midweek's close

Benchmark BIST 100 index earns over 140 points

ISTANBUL (AA) — The Turkish benchmark stock index closed the midweek at 8,090.90 points, up 1.77% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, which started the day at 7,982.71 points, gained 140.84 points from Tuesday's close.

The lowest value of the index of the day was 7,939.44, while its daily high was 8,149.53.

Some 87 indices increased in value, while 11 declined as of the end of the day.

The total transaction volume reached 89 billion Turkish liras ($2.95 billion), while the overall value of the index was 6.85 trillion liras ($226.8 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was at 30.2365 as of 18.45 hours (1545GMT), while the EUR/TRY rate was at 32.9860 and the GBP/TRY traded at 38.5595.

One ounce of gold was at $2,017.35, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $80.12.
