Turkish stock exchange up at Thursday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) – Türkiye's benchmark stock index finished Thursday at 5,476.92 points, up 2.46% from the previous day's close.

After starting the day at 5,347.71 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 131.31 points from Wednesday's close of 5,345.61.

The index hit a daily high of 5,476.92 points, while its lowest point during the session was 5,331.77.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was over 4.4 trillion Turkish liras ($238 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of approximately 95 billion Turkish liras ($5 billion).

During the day, 92 stocks on the index posted gains, 7 stocks recorded losses, while one remained unchanged.

The price of gold was up 0.5% to $1,813 per ounce, while Brent crude oil price was at $82.89 per barrel for a 1.3% loss at 7.34 p.m. local time (1634GMT).
