Turkish stock exchange up at Tuesday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 9,827.23 points, up 1.51% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, starting the day at 9,713.21, gained 146.12 points from Monday's close.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 9,661.11, while the daily high was 9,885.80.

The total transaction volume hit 108.78 billion Turkish liras ($3.13 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 34.7465 as of 6.23 p.m. local time (1523GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 36.5210, and the GBP/TRY traded at 43.9310.

The price of gold was $2,640.30 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $78.
