Turkish stock exchange up at Wednesday open

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Wednesday at 8,066.52 points, up by 0.11%, or 9.1 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Tuesday at 8,057.52 points, down by 0.37%, with a daily trading volume of 81 billion Turkish liras ($2.81 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 28.9230 as of 09.55 a.m. local time (0655GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 31.2030, and a British pound traded for 36.4580 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $77.40 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $2,045.20.
