Turkish stock exchange up at Wednesday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Wednesday at 9,722.09 points, up 0.80% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index started the day at 9.716,25 points, and earned 77.07 points from the previous close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 9,667.55, while its daily high was 9,766.89.

Some 51 indices increased in value by the end of the day, while 47 declined.

The total transaction volume reached 102 billion Turkish liras ($3.14 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.33 trillion liras ($256.3 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 32.5200 as of 6.00 p.m. (1500GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 34.8120, while the GBP/TRY traded at 40.4470.

The price of one ounce of gold was $2,334.90, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $88.
