Turkish stocks down at opening

BIST 100 index falls 0.73 pct from Wednesday's close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 5.45

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index on Thursday was down 0.73 percent, or 673.53 points, opening at 91,181.61 points.

On Wednesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 5.67 percent at closing, at 91,855.14 points with a daily trading volume of 11.13 billion Turkish liras ($2.08 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.4490 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Thursday, compared to 5.4070 at the last close.

The euro/Turkish lira rate was 6.2980, versus 6.1840 at Wednesday's close, and one British pound was exchanged for 7.1950 Turkish liras, down from 7.2170

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $66.94 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Thursday.
