Turkish stocks flat at Friday's open

BIST 100 index rises 0.07% from Thursday's close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 5.97

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index was up 0.07% or 66.05 points to open at 94,245.42 points on Friday.

On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 1.30% to close at 94,179.37 points with a daily trading volume of 5 billion Turkish liras ($839.5 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.9750 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Friday, compared to 5.9690 at the last close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.6760, versus 6.6860 at Thursday's close, and one British pound was exchanged for 7.8050 Turkish liras, compared to 7.7890.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $70.53 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Friday.
