Turkish stocks flat at midweek open

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,390.72 points on Wednesday, posting a slight decline of 0.93 points or 0.07% from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index was down 0.19% to close Tuesday at 1,391.65 points, with a daily trading volume of 12 billion Turkish liras ($1.35 billion).

From 8.8680 at Tuesday’s close, the US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate increased to 8.9070 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate climbed to 10.3190 from 10.2820, and one British pound traded for 12.1214 Turkish liras, up from 12.1060 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for $83.38 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
