Turkish stocks flat at open

BIST 100 index rises 0.05% from previous close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 5.60

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started Friday up 0.05% or 45.42 points to open at 99,427.62 points.

On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index increased slightly by 0.02% to close at 99,382.20 points with a daily trading volume of 5.3 billion Turkish liras ($941 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.6090 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, compared to 5.5990 at Thursday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.3290, versus 6.3240, and one British pound traded for 7.0750 Turkish liras, compared to 7.0490.

One barrel of Brent oil sold for $63.26 as of 10.05 a.m. local time (0705GMT) on Friday.
