Turkish stocks flat at opening session

ISTANBUL (AA) – Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Thursday at 4,997.21 points, down slightly by 0.08%, or 3.85 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed the midweek at 5,001.06 points, soaring 1.92%, with a daily trading volume of 53.4 billion Turkish liras ($2.8 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 19.0440 as of 09.45 a.m. local time (0645GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 20.8030, while a British pound traded for 23.4825 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $76.14 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,983.15.
