Turkish stocks flat at Thursday's open

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened at 5,319.22 points on Thursday, down slightly by 0.06%, or 3.43 points, from the previous close.

On Wednesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 1.63% to close the day at 5,322.65, with a daily trading volume of 84 billion Turkish liras ($4.42 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 18.8850 as of 09.58 a.m. local time (0658GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 20.0940, while a British pound traded for 22.6323 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $84.14 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,838.35.
