Turkish stocks jump 2.43% at Tuesday's close
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surges nearly 2,900 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index hit 122,136.17 points on Tuesday, rising 2.43% from the previous close
Starting the day at 120,476.43 points, as of the daily close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index soared 2,893.37 points from Monday's close of 119,242.80 points.
During Tuesday's trading, the index's hovered between 120,159.22 points and 122,220.10 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 842.9 billion Turkish liras ($141.1 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 12.8 billion Turkish liras ($2.1 billion).
On Tuesday's closing session 83 stocks on the index rose, 13 were down, and four were flat compared to Monday.
The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, petrochemical company Petkim and state lender Halkbank.
Halk GMYO, a real estate investment trust operating under Halkbank, was the best performer, with its shares up 12%, while Anadolu Cam operating under one of the world's major glass manufacturers -- Turkey's Sisecam -- dropped the most, down 2.22%.
The price of one ounce of gold was around $1,568.30 by market close, down from $1,579.00 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
