Turkish stocks start Tuesday on high note

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index up by around 1.6 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,087.75 points on Tuesday, up 0.14% or 1.55 points from the previous close.

At Monday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.22% at 1,086.20 points, with a daily trading volume of 13.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.9 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.3990 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to 7.3950 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate increased to 8.8010 from 8.7810, while one British pound traded for 9.7510 Turkish liras, slightly down from 9.7530.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $45.13 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
