Turkish stocks starts week with rise
BIST 100 index opened Monday 0.31 pct up while the dollar/Turkish lira rate stands at around 3.64

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index BIST 100 started the week with a 0.31 percent hike to open at 106,554.60 points on Monday.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 328.91 points, while the BIST banking and holding indices went up by 0.31 and 0.22 percent, respectively.
Among all sectors, the information technologies sector index saw the biggest rise -- up 1.09 percent -- and the BIST sports index started Monday with the highest decline, down 0.07 percent.
Last week, the BIST 100 rose 2.03 percent on a weekly basis and closed at 106,255.69 points on Friday, while the index showed a 3.25 percent advance in October.
Since the beginning of this year, the benchmark index has risen 36.65 percent and hit its all-time peak at 110,530.75 points on Aug. 28.
The dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 3.6420 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Monday, up from 3.6310 at Friday's close, while the average exchange rate at 3.47 last month.
Reaching a historic high of 3.94 in mid-January, the average U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 3.60 in the period of Jan.-Sept.
