Turkish stocks up 1.12% at opening session

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened at 5,401.57 points on Monday, up 1.12%, or 59.61 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose sharply by 4.41% to close the last week at 5,341.96 points, with a daily trading volume of 135.49 billion Turkish liras ($7.2 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 18.7782 as of 10.08 a.m. local time (0708GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 20.0648, and a British pound traded for 22.8303 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $79.58 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was at $1,882.65.
