Turkish stocks up %1.22 at Tuesday's open

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started the day at 110,897.64 points on Tuesday, up by 1.22%, or 1,341.69 points.

At Monday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 0.25% to close the day at 109,555.95 points, with a daily trading volume of 15.1 billion Turkish liras ($2.2 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 6.8350 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Tuesday, compared to 6.8480 at Monday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate increased to 7.7490 from 7.7210, and one British pound traded for 8.6750 Turkish liras, versus 8.6350 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $39.70 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
