Turkish stocks up at closing session

Benchmark BIST 100 index up around 16 points

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 10,438.33 points, up 0.15% from its previous close.

After starting the day at 10,421.64, the BIST 100 index earned 16.09 points from Monday's close.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 10,357.09, while the daily high was 10,522.14.

On Tuesday, 55 indexes gained in value, while 43 closed the day with losses.

The total transaction volume reached 130 billion Turkish liras ($3.55 billion), while the overall value of the index was 9.25 trillion liras ($253.8 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 36.5820 as of 7 p.m. local time (1600GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 39.9985, and the GBP/TRY traded at 47.3590.

The price of gold was $2,916.60 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $69.80.
