Turkish stocks up at opening session

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Tuesday 5,438.61 points, up by 0.86%, or 46.30 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Monday with a rally, increasing by 3.45 to 5,392.31, with a daily trading volume of 97 billion liras ($5.15 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 18.9077 as of 09.56 a.m. local time (0656GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 20.1878, while a British pound traded for 22.7573 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $86.24 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,852.65.
