Turkish stocks up at Thursday open

Benchmark index gains 62.16 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Thursday at 6,633.44 points, up 0.95%, or 62.16 points, from the previous close.

On Wednesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed at 6,571.28 points, surging 3.24%, with a daily trading volume of 119 billion Turkish liras ($4.4 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 26.9321 as of 9.59 a.m. local time (0659GMT), and the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 30.1913, while a British pound traded for 34.7756 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $79.55 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,983.60.
