Turkish stocks up at Thursday open

ANKARA (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Thursday at 6,799.44 points, up 0.82%, or 55.58 points, from the previous close.

On Wednesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed at 6,368.35 points, hiking 0.41%, with a daily trading volume of 132.95 billion liras ($5.08 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 26.9557 as of 9.57 a.m. local time (0657GMT), and the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 29.9429, while a British pound traded for 34.8981 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $83.04 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,975.05.
