Turkish stocks up at Tuesday opening

BIST 100 index rises some 175 points from previous close, USD/TRY exchange rate at 5.65

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened Tuesday at 95,461.86 points, up 0.18% or 175.68 points.

On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 0.47% to close the day at 95,286.18 points with a daily trading volume of 5.4 billion Turkish liras ($959.7 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.6540 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday, up from 5.6470 on Monday.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.2660, versus 6.2720, and one British pound traded for 6.8620 Turkish liras, compared to 6.8360 at Monday's close.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for around $59.76 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Tuesday.
