ANKARA (AA) - Turkish teams ranked among top 10 during the 2018 Student Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS) Competition held in the U.S. from June 13-16.
According to the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) website, a total of 69 teams -- 35 domestic, 31 international, and three high schools -- were accepted in the competition.
Five Turkish teams participated. Istanbul Technical University's team ITUNOM came in seventh and Yildiz Technical University's team Lagari bagged the eighth rank.
Turkey Technology Team Foundation chairman Mehmet Fatih Kacir on Sunday told Anadolu Agency that they provided financial support to four Turkish teams that attended the competition.
Kacir said it is important for Turkish engineering students to participate in such competitions.
"The youths, who follow current developments on technology and engineering, and develop their own projects in the field while going beyond the theoretical education at the schools, will carry works on domestic industry and indigenousness a step further," he added.
