Articulated truck driver stops driving his vehicle for 45 days as bird nested in engine
By Huseyin Yiginer
ANKARA (AA) - An articulated truck driver did not drive his vehicle for 45 days after he found out a bird’s nest in his vehicle’s engine.
Bahattin Gurses, a truck driver who lives in the Cubuk district of the capital Ankara, told Anadolu Agency that he noticed the nest when he lifted the bonnet of the truck.
Gurses, 42, said that he did not drive his vehicle and waited until eggs are hatched.
He said that it was the first time that he saw such a thing in his 15 years of career.
“They [locals] told me that the baby birds will hatch out of the egg in 15 days,” said Gurses, adding he waited for them to hatch out and then to fly.
Noting that it took about 45 days for baby birds to fly from the nest, he said he drove his articulated truck after one and a half month.
“We will start to earn our bread and butter,” he said, stressing that he did not hard up for the money in the last 45 days.
“I engaged in vineyards and orchards. I spent very special time with my family. We feel happy and peaceful, we did not cause the death of birds at least,” he added.
