Cevdet Yilmaz currently in Uganda, to attend 19th Heads of State and Government Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement

KAMPALA, Uganda (AA) — Türkiye's Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz on Thursday reiterated Ankara's willingness to share its model of development with Uganda to foster inclusive economic growth.

Türkiye and Uganda have made significant progress in their bilateral ties since a 2016 visit by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Yilmaz said in talks with the Prime Minister Robina Nabbanja in a meeting attended by Turkish ambassador to Uganda Fatih Ak.

Relations will continue to develop more rapidly with high-level mutual visits, underlined Yilmaz, who is visiting the East African nation to take part in the 19th Heads of State and Government Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

He also met with the Turkish business community at the Turkish Embassy in Uganda.

"We have been receiving important news recently about developments. We will strengthen the trade between the two countries. I hope our Ministry of Foreign Affairs will finalize the agreements on mutual support and facilitation of investments," he said.

Turkish contracting companies are currently involved in infrastructure projects, particularly related to improving Uganda's transportation network.

"Our duty as the state and government is to provide the appropriate environment, to create a suitable atmosphere with agreements and political relations, but you are the ones who will develop relationships," he told the business community.

Yilmaz is also expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and address heads of state and government as a special guest at the NAM summit.
