Türkiye, Cambodia to collaborate in media, communication

'We aim to further strengthen relations between our countries and develop cooperation in fields of media, communication,' says Türkiye's communications director

ANKARA (AA) – Türkiye and Cambodia signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday for cooperation in the field of media and communication.

Türkiye's Communications Director Fahrettin Altun met with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sok Chenda Sophea and the accompanying delegation at the Directorate of Communications in Ankara.

Emphasizing that they attach great importance to enhancing relations between the two countries, Altun said that they see the mutual visits and the agreements signed during these visits as important steps towards deepening their relations and gaining new dimensions.


- Cooperation in media to reflect positively on every field

Stating that the friendship between Türkiye and Cambodia is reflected in the agreements in the field of communication and media, Altun said: “In this context, we attach importance to the cooperation established between the Official News Agency of Cambodia and Anadolu in February."

"We aim to further strengthen the friendly relations between our countries and further develop cooperation in the fields of media and communication," he said.

"Our countries will work together to strengthen, promote and develop cooperation and exchange of information and experience in the fields of communication and digital literacy, public diplomacy, media and publishing," he added.

He further added: "We believe that cooperation in the field of communication and media will have a positive impact on the relations between the two countries in every field from trade to investment, culture to tourism.”


- Fight against disinformation

Altun highlighted Türkiye's expertise in communication, media, and digitalization, and efforts in combating disinformation, which is a growing global threat.

Sophea, on his part, expressed great satisfaction with working closely with Türkiye in the fields of media and communication.

Following the inter-delegation meeting, Altun and Sophea signed a memorandum of understanding between the two countries.
