Türkiye 'closely' monitoring situation in Sulaymaniyah in Kurdish Regional Government

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye is "closely" watching developments in the Sulaymaniyah province of Iraq’s Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) region in terms of peace in the country and the safety of Turkish citizens there, said a spokesman on Friday.

"We are closely monitoring developments in the city of Sulaymaniyah in terms of Iraq's stability and peace, as well as the safety and security of our citizens," said Oncu Keceli, Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman, said in a statement.

Saying that the Turkish Consulate General in Erbil has taken initiatives with relevant local authorities, Keceli added that necessary measures have been taken to ensure the safety of the Turkish citizens.
