Türkiye, Egypt presidents discuss situation in Gaza Strip

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi discuss 'latest developments in Israel's attacks on Gaza, which are becoming more violent by the day,' says Türkiye’s Communications Directorate

RIYADH (AA) – Türkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday met with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Riyadh and discussed the latest situation in the Gaza Strip.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of an extraordinary joint Arab-Islamic summit in the Saudi capital Riyadh.

The duo discussed the "latest developments in Israel's attacks on Gaza, which are becoming more violent by the day," according to a statement issued by Türkiye's Communications Directorate.

During the meeting, Erdogan stressed that "Israel's violations of human rights against innocent civilians in Gaza must be sanctioned under international law."

He explained Türkiye's "intense diplomatic traffic to ensure permanent peace in Palestine."

The president also stressed that "Türkiye is ready to collaborate in delivering humanitarian aid and health services to Gaza."

Earlier, the Arab-Islamic summit began in the Saudi capital Riyadh to discuss the developments taking place in the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian territories.

Leaders and representatives of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation are participating in the summit which coincides with the ongoing Israeli bombardment in the Gaza Strip for the 36th day.
