ANKARA (AA) - Türkiye and Hungary are determined to further develop bilateral cooperation as the countries enjoy "exemplary relations", Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said on Friday.
"Türkiye-Hungary ties are progressing as an exemplary relationship that should be taken as a model and this relationship increases day by day," Soylu said at a joint news conference with his Hungarian counterpart Sandor Pinter in the capital Ankara.
Soylu said Ankara and Budapest have strong cooperation against illegal drugs, financial crimes, cross-border crimes, smuggling, and terrorism.
"We are determined to enhance the cooperation and solidarity we have in the Organization of the Turkic States, and in other regional and international platforms," he added.
Both countries are in preparation to celebrate the cultural year of Türkiye and Hungary in 2024 to mark the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, Soylu said, adding: "We will continue to work to develop our common areas of cooperation until 2024."
He also said Türkiye and Hungary agree to establish a joint working mechanism.
Pinter, for his part, said Hungary is ready to enhance cooperation and develop the mechanism.
He also hailed Turkish police officers employed in Hungary for their "discipline and success."
