Türkiye runs $2.6B budget surplus in November

Budget revenues hit $26B, expenditures at $23.4B last month, official data shows

Türkiye's central government budget posted a 75.6 billion liras ($2.6 billion) surplus in November, according to data released Friday.

It was the largest surplus since May, Treasury and Finance Ministry figures showed.

The figure improved from a deficit of 95.5 billion liras ($3.4 billion) in October, but worsened from a 108.3 billion liras ($6.5 billion) surplus in November 2022.

Budget revenues hit 746.8 billion liras ($26 billion), while expenditures stood at 671.2 billion liras ($23.4 billion) last month.

Non-interest expenditures came in at 576.6 billion liras ($20.1 billion), while interest payments reached 94.6 billion liras ($3.3 billion).

Excluding interest payments, the budget balance registered a 170.2 billion liras ($5.9 billion) surplus, while tax revenues totaled 668.5 billion liras ($23.3 billion).

In January-November, the budget balance posted a deficit of 532.4 billion liras ($23.3 billion).

Budget revenues reached 4.7 trillion liras ($203.9 billion) in the first 11 months of this year, while expenditures amounted to 5.2 trillion liras ($227.2 billion).

A US dollar traded for 28.6750 liras on average in November and 22.8574 liras in the 11-month period.
