Türkiye says Israel’s Gaza attacks deal ‘significant blow’ to basic rights of Palestinians, shared values of humanity
Ongoing 'tragedy' highlights failure, weakness of international system, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan says on Human Rights Day

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Tuesday said that Israel’s ongoing attacks for 14 months in Gaza undermine both the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people and also the core values shared by all of humanity.
“The ongoing inhumane attacks in Gaza deal a significant blow not only to the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people but also to the shared values of all humanity,” Fidan said in a message marking Human Rights Day.
The ongoing “tragedy” highlights the failure and weakness of the international system, said Fidan, urging all countries to take a “principled and consistent stance” without “double standards” to protect the shared values and human dignity.
“In order not to carry this shame into the future, it is the common obligation of all countries to stop the massacre of civilians in Gaza and take action to establish lasting peace,” he said.
Türkiye will continue to cooperate with the global communities “who value human dignity and have conscience and morality to stop these massacres against the Palestinian people, to meet their needs, and to establish a fully independent and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders,” he added.
Stressing that Türkiye is determined against hate crimes, including racism, xenophobia and Islamophobia, which have increased in some countries, Fidan called for taking concrete steps against hate crimes.
He concluded his message by expressing hope “for the realization of a just and peaceful world order in which human rights and human values are always a priority.”
