Türkiye sees $6.8B budget deficit in April
Budget revenues at $13.9B, expenditures at $20.7B last month, official data shows

ANKARA (AA) - Türkiye’s central government budget registered a deficit of 132.5 billion Turkish liras ($6.8 billion) in April, according to official data released on Monday.
Budget revenues came in at 268 billion liras ($13.9 billion), while expenditures amounted to 400 billion liras ($20.7 billion) last month, figures from the Treasury and Finance Ministry showed.
Non-interest expenditures were at 365.9 billion liras ($18.9 billion), while interest payments stood at 34.5 billion liras ($1.8 billion).
Excluding interest payments, the budget balance posted a deficit of 98 billion liras ($5.1 million), while tax revenues reached 232.7 billion liras ($12 billion).
One US dollar traded for 19.3478 liras on average in April, while a dollar traded for 18.9382 liras on average in the first four months of 2023.
In the January-April period, the budget balance ran a deficit of 382.5 billion Turkish liras ($20.2 billion).
Budget revenues reached 1.1 trillion liras ($56.1 billion) in the four-month period, while expenditures amounted to 1.4 trillion liras ($76.3 billion).
