Türkiye's BIST 100 index down at closing session

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed the day at 10.045,74 points on Tuesday, down 0.37% from the previous close.

After starting the day at 10.081,68 points, the BIST 100 index lost 37.03 points from Monday's close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 10,036.81, while its daily high was at 10,132.88.

The stock exchange will be closed for transactions on Wednesday due to May 1 Labor Day.

A total of 31 indexes gained value by the end of the day, while 68 declined.

The total transaction volume reached 109 billion Turkish liras ($3.37 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.6 trillion liras ($266 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 32.3790 as of 6.45 p.m. (1645GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 34.6695, and the GBP/TRY traded at 40.5660.

The price of one ounce of gold was $2,298.40, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $85.90.
