Türkiye's BIST 100 index ends midweek flat

Benchmark index gains 1.38 points at Wednesday's closing session

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Wednesday at 9,701.55 points, slightly up 0.01%, or 1.38 points from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index started the day at 9,700.27, slightly rising 0.10 points from the close on Tuesday.

The lowest point for the index was 9,658.64, while the daily high was 9,771.71.

During the day, 41 indexes gained in value while 58 closed with losses.

The daily transaction volume reached 109.3 billion Turkish liras ($2.82 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.85 trillion liras ($228.8 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 38.7505 as of 6.30 pm local time (1530GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 43.4785, and the British pound traded at 51.5895.

The price of an ounce of gold was $3,185.20, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $65.75.
